The Global Premier Football League concept has been a while coming, according to founder, Dwayne Barlow.
“It’s an idea that has been rolling over in my brain for the best part of a year. Whether real life or fantasy level sport: what could a worldwide league in the largest global sport look like?” asks Barlow.
“Really, it’s a concept that combines a couple of my main fascinations – football and geography – and allows our team to get a bit creative.
“To do something like this in real life would likely cost billions, and I’m a few billion short at the moment, but fantasy sport is a real option. We’re now exploring how we can make this work.”
So far, so good for the Global Premier Football League
In the meantime, the Global Premier Football League (GPFL) platforms have started to be active. “We’re currently running through an #AtoZChallenge on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. This is basically a tease – throwing out a city each day for 26 days and asking if it’ll make the cut,” says Barlow.
Following the #AtoZChallenge the GPFL will get down to business, announcing the 20 cities that will host a club. “We’ll then launch the names of our clubs, along with their logos and their playing kit.
“This will keep us busy for the next little while. Hopefully it will also create a bit of a buzz around the Global Premier Football League, too. We’re always on the lookout for partners and funders who share our interests.”
